Whats a good effect to use when triying to paint foliage/overgrowth?using different materials than just paint?

I would assume that you are doing some sort of abstract work on canvas or board? Try using pasta noodles, the angel hair is pretty thin for blades of grasses, then you might want to explore using the bits off of pine cones for large shaped leaves. Just throwing out some ideas...
