Is my young sycamore tree dead?

Last spring, my husband and I planted a sycamore tree in our backyard. When we bought it, and throughout the summer, it had foliage. It hasn't grown any new leaves at all this year. At first, we thought they were just going to grow later than the other trees, but it is now the beginning of June, and still nothing. Is it dead?
