Looking after camillia?

I live in Sydney. I planted a small poney camellia tree last April. I watered it last Tuesday evening after a hot day. Then on the second day I found most of the foliages started turning yellowish or brown. These days it's been boiling hot in Sydney. Should I water the tree more frequently or should leave the yellow tree without doing anything? Thanks!
